2nd Reel Sydney Festival of World Cinema is held at Sutherland Entertainment centre during May 20-21, 2016 with an incredible selection of Australian and international short and feature length films!
The festival is a partnership screen culture initiative between Cinewest and Sutherland Shire Council conceived in 2015 presenting the best of World Cinema from around the world. The festival program includes two feature films and seven short films from Australia, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, New Zealand, Russia, Spain and USA.
The features include the much talked about personal essay documentary ‘The Silences’ by Margot Nash from Australia/NZ scheduled for the opening night followed by Q&A with the director hosted by Peter Castaldi and Berlin Film Festival hit ‘Mrussia’ by Eva Pervolovici from France/Russia selected for the closing night.

The selection of short films include award winning ‘I Say Dust’ by Darine Hotait from USA, ‘Listen’ by ‘Hamy Ramezan & Rungano Nyoni’ from Finland/Denmark and ‘Intercom’ by Maxim Belousov from Russia. The festival also presents Asia-Pacific Premiere ‘Follow the Instructions’ by Begoña Soler and Australian Premiere ‘40th Anniversary’ by J. Enrique Sánchez from Spain.

The festival has allured audiences from Sydney region as well as national and international Media outlets for its diverse programming recognizing the art of moving images embracing social, cultural, economical and political content.

The festival deploys a creditable international jury panel to award the best feature and short films selected by renowned Peter Castaldi from Australia, as the Jury President, award winning film producer/performer Carrie Collins from USA, Dhaka International Film Festival founder/director Ahmed Muztaba Zamal from Bangladesh and award winning film writer/director Derrick Lui from Singapore.

REEL 2016 consists of three sessions commencing with a feature film ‘The Silences’ on Friday May 20, followed by a day session of short films and ending with a feature film ‘Marussia’ on Saturday May 21, 2016.
