Iranian Women Media Literacy and Digital Filmmaking Workshop 2016
PROJECT DESCRIPTION Cinewest in partnership with Sydney Olympic Park Authority presents an eight week course in Media Literacy and Filmmaking Workshop for Iranian women (20-40 years old, residents of Sydney region) at The Newington Armory during June and July 2016.
The workshop provides skills and professional development opportunities for up to 10 participants learning about the process of film production including pre-production (writing for screen, planning and management), Production (filming) and Post Production (image and sound editing as well as presentation and promotion strategies). The workshop aims to produce 2 short films under 7 minutes with ‘Women and Migration’ as thematic, referring to concepts such as ‘Family’ and ‘Independence’. The workshop will be held on every Sunday in a four hour session facilitated by Ms. Maryam Kassaie and Mr. Vahid Vahed.
The project is funded by Cinewest and Sydney Olympic Park Authority; therefore, no registration fee is required. The outcomes of this workshop will be presented at the 3rd edition of Women Media Arts and Film Festival – September 2016 and the 14th edition of Short Soup International Short Film Festival – January 2017. Applications in a form of Letter of Request must be forwarded to Maryam Kassaie (Project Manager/Facilitator – shortsoup@cinewest.org) No Fees and previous experience in filmmaking are necessary. Deadline for entry is May 27, 2016.
